Our uPVC conservatories are manufactured using Kömmerling PVC-u profile, by a Secured by Design license holder to BS 7950 - the British Standard for the manufacture of uPVC windows, doors and conservatories with enhanced security. All our doors, including French doors, are fitted with multi-point locking and toughened safety glass as standard.
K2 Roof System
All our conservatories are fitted with a roof manufactured using the K2 Roof System, and, depending on your choice, are glazed with opal polycarbonate or glass. The roofs are tied into the existing wall, and the original mortar is removed to allow a proper lead seal to be made before re-pointing. Guttering is linked into the existing top-water drainage system, or you can collect the rainwater for use in your garden.
Polycarbonate or Glass?
For a translucent roof, the two options are polycarbonate or glass.
Polycarbonate
Our standard polycarbonate roof is finished in opal, but there is also the the options of either clear, or bronze, the latter of which tends to look better on conservatories finished in wood-grained uPVC. Polycarbonate costs less than glass, and provided that it is the five layered 35mm sheeting - which we fit as standard - then the insulation properties are slightly greater than glass. On south facing conservatories, sheets with a special reflective insert, known as Heatguard, can be used to allow for a more comfortable heat in summer.
Glass
Though coming at a slightly greater cost, the glass roof option offers some quite significant benefits over polycarbonate. Glass roofs are much quieter as the absorb sounds much better, this is quite noticeable during rainfall. They can also have a 'Low E' coating on the glass, which helps reduce heat loss in winter - our standard glass roof. Then there is the ultimate self-cleaning Celsius option; this type of glass is covered with a special coating, which will not allow bird dropping, leaves, tree sap or dust etc., to bond onto the surface. The next time it rains, any dirt and grime is simply washed away
